Winter can be a challenging time, with shorter days, colder temperatures, and less sunlight. But it's also a time of year that offers unique opportunities for self-care and nurturing the soul. Here are our some of our favorite winter self-care rituals that can help you feel more grounded, peaceful, and nourished during the colder months. Feel free to choose one or all to add to your winter routine these next couple of months.

Take a Warm Bath

After a cold and perhaps rainy, grey day there’s nothing better than slipping into a warm bath right before bedtime as the ultimate self care winter ritual.

Taking a bath is both relaxing and can enhance your sleep too.

For added benefits, you can add essential oils to soothe the mind and Epsom salts which have healing and detox effects on the body. During your bath, you can use the time to practice gratitude and deep breathing. This can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Take a few deep breaths and focus on the present moment, letting go of any worries or concerns. You may find it helpful to focus on a positive affirmation, such as "I am calm and centered", or simply to repeat a soothing word like "peace" or "relax".

Switch Up Your Skincare Routine

The colder weather can have a profound effect on your skin often drying it out and leaving it cracked and chapped. While those light, oil-free serums may have worked wonders for your skin in the summer, you might find your needs changing in the winter. Try doubling up with extra layers of moisturizer and body butter - you know ours are the best :)

Start a gratitude journal

Starting your day with a positive mindset is key to setting the tone for the rest of your day. One easy and effective way to cultivate gratitude and positivity is by keeping a daily gratitude journal. Spend a few minutes each morning reflecting on the things in your life that you are grateful for, and write them down in your journal. These things need not be grand gestures or big events. In fact, it's often the small things that can bring us the most joy and satisfaction. From a warm cup of tea to a good book or a lazy night at home watching movies with loved ones, there are countless small things that we can be grateful for each day.

Light a Candle

Whether you have 30 minutes to relax or just five, the simple act of lighting a candle can transform your room and your mind. Focusing on the dancing, flickering flame is your cue to perhaps breathe deeply, meditate for a little while or just clear your head from the day’s events. Shop our luxury affirmation candles that come with a message designed to support positive thoughts, encouragement, and intentions here

Morning Meditation

While meditation has it's benefits throughout all seasons, our intentions might change with the winter months. If you already meditate you might think about shifting energy throughout your practice as the seasons change. Alternatively, there’s never been a better time to start and add it into your self-care rituals, meditation can help to reduce stress, improve your mood, and help you feel more connected to the divine and your higher self. During the winter months, I personally love to add warmth to my meditation practice by lighting a few candles and using our protection mist. If you have been keeping up with my socials then you know I am on a 108 day mind, body, and soul cleanse where I am in deep meditation for the first 2 hours of the morning.. IT HAS BEEN LIFE CHANGING. ( let me know if you would like more details in the comments )

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated throughout the day is essential for optimal body performance. By keeping your body well-hydrated, you can keep your energy levels up, prevent headaches, and even improve stomach issues. While it's easy to remember to drink water in the summer when we're thirsty, it's important not to forget about hydration in the winter months as well. In fact, staying hydrated can even improve our skin by preventing it from becoming too dry and cracked. Additionally, staying hydrated can also help with other winter-related issues such as chapped lips and dry hair.

Add chlorophyll drops twice a day to your water for extra nourishment. More details here

Put Down Your Phone

As we spend more time indoors, our digital devices have become a go-to for entertainment and information. But don't let mindless scrolling take over. Use social media intentionally and limit your usage to your free time. Take a break from screens before bedtime to promote better sleep patterns, reduce stress, and promote eye health. This will help create space for quality time with loved ones and the self-care rituals you're getting ready to commit to!

Prioritize your Immune health

Do yourself a solid with me this winter and prioritize your immune health. We only have one body and we have to love, nourish and take care of it the best we can! Check in with your supplement routine, add in some vitamin D3, probiotics and immune building wellness drops like our

Turn your shower into a spa

Transform your ordinary shower into an at home spa experience with KM mood mists. Infused with 100% organic oils, our revitalizing mist releases calming aromas that soothes your senses, relieves sinus congestion, and sets the stage for a relaxing self-care routine. Our versatile spray enhances not just your shower, but your well-being. During the winter we may feel like we need a little extra TLC, so bringing the spa vibes into your shower allows your access to the therapeutic benefits of a spa treatment as often as you need to.

Make time for tea

By integrating tea into your winter rituals, you can carve out a little time to yourself in all the chaos of life. The teas you choose can also help to alleviate winter coughs and colds, boost your immune system, or improve your mood like our Remedy tea . Whatever your preferred brew, make sure to enjoy it as a regular part of your daily routine to best take care of yourself!

Take a Short, Brisk Walk

We naturally move less in the winter, but that doesn't mean you should stop exercising. Try getting out for a brisk walk when the weather permits ( just bundle up) to fill your lungs with fresh air, get your heart rate up, and connect with nature. It's a simple and effective way to improve your mood, reduce stress, and boost productivity.

Listen to motivating podcasts

If you need a little pick-me-up, there are great podcasts out there to help motivate you. I personally enjoy listening to them while doing chores or organizing my space. It helps me stay present and focused. Two of my favorites are Deeply Well with Devi Brown and The Black Girl Bravado.
